Brazil take on Colombia in the second FIFA World Cup 2014 Quarterfinal on Friday, July 14, in the city of Fortaleza where a total of around 70,000 people are set to witness their home team taking a step forward in lifting the World Cup Trophy.
Brazil have endured a difficult World Cup campaign so far. Apart from the game against Cameroon, all the tree other games have been har fought for the home team. Brazil just managed to reach the Quarterfinals as their Round of 16 match vs Chile was decided in a penalty shootout.
Colombia on the other hand have been one of the best teams of the competition, winning all their 4 games till now. They secured a convincing 2-0 victory over Uruguay and now look set to challenge the home team. Their young forward., James Rodrigues, has been the find of the tournament and currently leads the FIFA World Cup 2014 Golden Boot list with 5 goals.
It is expected to be a cracker of a game and the Brazilian fans will make sure they give a tough time to their neighbor country.
Brazil: Neymar picked up a thigh injury in Brazil’s victory over Chile and that has raised many concerns for Luiz Felipe Scolari. However, he is expected to be fit for the match but it is pretty sure he will be marked closely by the Colombians. For Brazil, Hulk and Fred have to start making things happen and put away the chances as they both have been highly disappointing in the competition. Midfielder Luiz Gustavo is suspended for the Colombia match after picking up a second yellow card against Chile.
Colombia: For Colombia, their front three players Rodriguez, Cuadrado and Jackson Martínez have been in top form and they are expected to start against Brazil. With the form they are in, they are sure to score a goal or two against the Brazilian defense that has look vulnerable throughout the tournament.
