Chile 3-1 Australia Highlights(Post Match Review)
Chile secured a hard fought 3-1 victory over Australia in their Group b encounter after Spain were thrashed by Netherlands 5-1 on Friday night, throwing the group wide open.
Spain’s dramatic loss to Netherlands meant that the Chile vs Australia game was a must win match for both the teams,
Chile took early lead in the match as Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez put the ball inside the Australian net after just 11 minutes, following a brilliant piece of ball handling skills in the penalty area.
The Australian defense looked pretty vulnerable and Chile took full advantage of that, as they scored another goal within couple of minutes, this time through Valdivia, as he produced a superb finish to make it 2-0.
It seemed that there would be a white wash for the Australians, but a brilliant header from Tim Cahill in the 36th minute put the Australians back into the match, looking for an equalizer throughout the game but all their efforts were in vain.
Chile finally killed the match as Beausejour drilled a fine effort across goal and into the bottom-right corner in injury time.
These were very crucial 3 points for Chile after Spain were comprehensively beaten by Netherlands 5-1 in a rematch of the 2010 World Cup Final. If Chile can manage a draw against Spain now, they will have very strong chances to advance to the the knock out stages, alongside Netherlands.
