Colombia 3-0 Greece Highlights 2014 World Cup: Match Review
Colombia earned a well deserved victory over Greece in the Group C encounter with goals from Armero, Gutiérrez and James Rodríguez and will now be confident to top the group.
Colombia opened their World Cup campaign in a stylish fashion as they won their first match against Greece in the Group C opener. Colombia were pretty impressive throughout the match and they completely dominated their opponents Greece, who looked a bit rusty on the field today.
Colombia opened the scoring through Pablo Armero in the sixth minute of the match, Cuadrado turned back brilliantly to put the ball inside the area and Armero saw his effort go in off a defender. Both the teams had many opportunities to score but failed to capitalize and at the end of the first half the score remained 1-0.
Colombia began the second half positively, and doubled their lead in the 59th minute. James’ free-kick was flicked on by Aguilar at the near post and Teo Gutierrez put the ball into an empty net. Greece came close to scoring their first goal but were unlucky as a diving header Gekas hit the post.
James Rodríguez put his name in the score sheet in the injury time to make it 3-0 and that ended a convincing day for Colombia and Greece were left heartbroken
Colombia are now at the top of group C with the other match, Ivory Coast vs Japan to be played later today.
