England 2014 World Cup Squad: Team Preview

Roy HodgsonCoach: Roy Hodgson

Best Finish: Winners – 1966

Worst Finish: Group Stage (11th Position) – 1958

Current FIFA Ranking: 11

Strengths: England have the ability to hit long range shots and that remains one of the biggest strength of the team. During the qualifying stages, almost one in five goals scored were long range shots, which only a few teams can match. England’s midfield also looks settled with the likes of Steven Gerrrard, Theo Walcott, Jack Wilshere, who all have been in great form in the Premier League, set to play their part at the World Cup.

Weakness: The biggest weakness of this England team is that they always fail to perform at international tournaments. Be it the World Cup or the Euro Cup, it has been a while since the team has gone on to make a mark at these tournaments. This time too, they will have the company of Uruguay and Italy with them and moving beyond the group stage already looks a hard nut to crack for Roy Hodgson and his team.
