And FIFA recognizes this effort by rewarding the deserving players with FIFA World Cup Awards, which puts them in the Football World’s Hall Of Fame. A total of 6 Awards are awarded to the most deserving players of the World Cup. The 2014 World Cup has a lot of deserving players lined up for these Awards. 1. Golden Boot – The Golden Boot Award is given to the top goal scorer of the World Cup. Germany’s Thomas Muller won this Award in 2010. With Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar all in brilliant form ahead of the World Cup, there will be serious competition to win this Award.

2. Golden Ball – The Golden Ball Award is the dream of every footballer, and decorates the player with the title of Best Player of the Tournament. It doesn’t matter if you scored the maximum number of goals or whether you saved them, what matters is how well you played the tournament. Uruguay’s Diego Forlan won this prestigious Award in 2010.

3. Golden Glove – The Golden Glove Award, as the name suggests, is an award for the Best Goalkeeper of the tournament, who denies the opposition many chances of scoring & thus saves his team. Spain’s Iker Casillas held this deservedly for last tournament.

4. Best Young Player – The award is given to the best player in the tournament who is at most 21 years old. The award was awarded for the first time at the 2006 FIFA World Cup and was won by Thomas Muller in 2010.

5. Fair Play Award is for the team with the best record of fair play throughout the tournament. Spain has held it for the last two tournaments.

6. “Most Entertaining Team” is given to the team who is successful in entertaining the fans throughout the World Cup with their entertaining style of play.  It is awarded based on a public participation poll & was last awarded in 2006 World Cup to Portugal .
